Course aims:

Language for Teachers
and Teaching and Methodology
Course delivery:
70 hours online: Methodology
& Language Development input, Teaching Practice Preparation and Assignments,
4 classroom related written assignments, 4 teaching
tasks.
70 hours face to face: Peer Observations (minimum 8
hours) directed observations of lessons. 4 Supervised
Teaching Practices and feedback.
This strand
includes 4 tasks focusing on the following aspects of language:
Grammar: Clauses, sentence types, tense, aspect, noun
phrases and pronouns.
Lexis: sense relations, collocation.
Pronunciation: consonants, vowels, intonation and stress.
Discourse: Text types, communicative functions, basic
cohesion.
Use of reference sources: dictionaries, grammar reference books.
Teaching and
Methodology strand
Resources and materials: authentic materials, textbooks,
audio and video materials, visual aids, teaching resource books.
Planning and classroom management: Observed lessons.
Identifying learner needs: diagnostic and progress testing,
continuous assessment.
Professional development: self-observation, peer observation.
